Hotel Rural Maria Da Fonte

Hotel was very nice. Good place. Nice service. Friendly people. Breakfast was not bad. Dinner in the restaurant was good and you should 1000% try thief vinho da casa. We live in Porto and wanted to buy 2 bottles for us to have at home, but we forgot it((( Only 1 concern - the swimming pool was very “tired” and black mould in some Places. And the area near need to be cleaner, my husband hurt his feet with a piece of glass.

The facilities are good, we had no complaints apart from poor lighting in the bathroom. The receptionist (and do-it-all) Andreia was a delight and tried her best to keep everything running smoothly. However, the air was unbreathable due to the fireplace smoke, we have complained 3 times, heard at least another guest complaining and they did nothing about it. Said it was "normal" due to the kitchen smoke extractor. The result are 3 sick guests, one of them currently at the hospital with respiratory problems. We felt disrespected to say the least.

Beautiful, tranquil hotel. The nicest hotel in the past week and a half. Enjoyed the fire in the fireplace and the ample breakfast. The view was magnificent. One caveat: if you are sensitive to animals' plight, do not go to visit where the animals are. The dogs were kenneled in a concrete pen without a grass run. I wanted to release them, bathe them and bring them into the hotel after a nice walk!

We hadn’t planned to stay in this hotel, but after we found ourselves with a VRBO rental that was mouldy and unsafe , we moved here. We are so glad we did. The hotel staff were kind and thoughtful eg giving us hats when sitting in the sun, washing clothes, setting up patio furniture for us. The breakfast was a great start to the day and served in a relaxed atmosphere. Our rooms were impeccably clean and the bed very comfortable.The setting was beautiful and restful and our family all enjoyed themselves.

when we arrived to check-in, it took 15 minutes for them to find a room for two. the receptionist didn’t show us any way to for example the swimming pool, room etc. the hotel is beautiful BUT, the bathroom was dirty, and even after one night they didn’t clean the sink, toilet, and didn’t swap out towels. the door is 5cm over the floor, and you can hear everything going on in the hall way , and other rooms even (for ex. water running of the tap, people speaking [not loudly]). the AC didn’t work, and as a personal review i found the pillows a bit too hard. my personal review would be 2,3/5⭐️. lovely place but not quite as good as expected.
